Eye Care Tips
Cleaning Your Glasses the Right Way
Keeping your lenses clean protects your vision and extends the life of your frames and coatings. Here are the steps and habits our opticians recommend.
Rinse Under Lukewarm Water
Before touching the lenses, rinse your glasses under lukewarm (never hot) running water to remove loose dust and debris that could scratch the lenses during wiping.
Apply Lens Cleaning Solution
Use a small drop of lotion-free dish soap or an eyeglass-specific lens cleaner on each lens. Avoid products containing ammonia, bleach, vinegar, or alcohol — these can strip lens coatings.
Gently Rub All Surfaces
Using your fingertips, gently rub both sides of each lens, the frames, nose pads, and earpieces for about 20–30 seconds. Pay special attention to the nose pads where oil and skin buildup accumulate.
Rinse Thoroughly
Rinse both sides of the lenses and frames completely. Any leftover soap residue will cause smearing when you dry them.
Dry with a Clean Microfiber Cloth
Shake off excess water, then gently dry with a clean, lint-free microfiber cloth. Never use paper towels, tissues, or clothing — these materials can scratch lens coatings.
Inspect and Store Properly
Hold the glasses up to the light to check for smudges. When not in use, store glasses in a hard case to prevent scratches and damage.
